Murra Month: ESTHER ECKLEY
October 8, 2021
MURRA MONTH continues today with the arrival of brand new paintings by Esther Eckley, our impasto still life painter whose refreshing painterly approach has created ripples of intrigue far and wide.
Esther Eckley’s MURRA MONTH exhibition is an eclectic collection of paintings that revisit some of the artists most popular approaches to still life painting. Sliced fruits, stark shadows and buttery impasto surfaces all combine to supply us with gazing delight.
Interestingly, to become a professional painter was not always what Esther Eckley aspired to achieve. Her formative years were spent in the corporate world of PR, while also playing Rugby at an international level. When asked what inspires her creativity, Eckley proudly acknowledges her culturally rich Welsh upbringing and names her mother, an accomplished folk singer and actress, as a key influencer in sparking her transition to a full time painter.
In the three years since debuting her work to Murrurundi audiences, Welsh-Australian painter Esther Eckley has amassed an audience of followers across the globe. Esther has delivered solo exhibitions across Australia and the UK and has also participated in curated group exhibitions at Michael Reid Berlin.
