MURRA MONTH: JO WHITE
We are now at the halfway point of MURRA MONTH which has seen incredible responses to exhibitions by Lucy Vader, Elizabeth Barnett, Esther Eckley and Brooke Dalton. Today we continue with the arrival of brand new paintings by Jo White, an artist whose work is unmatched in its ability to capture indelible sentiment of Australian nostalgia.
For MURRA MONTH, Jo White departs from her Pool Room style series and returns to exploring the sights and sounds of our youth. Comprised of 21 brand new paintings, this show is a wistful tour of the suburban Australia of yesteryear.
From bush to beach, Jo White’s fibro house paintings are captured with exceptional accuracy. The curve of a pastel-pink mid century beach house, the lime green hues of mass produced suburban homes, a proudly perched tyre swan in the front yard. Jo White’s ability to capture and translate these icons see her holding notable court in the space of contemporary nostalgic painting.
