Murra Month: LUCY VADER
Friday October 1st, 2021
MURRA MONTH, our 31 day event showcasing exhibitions by your favourite Murrurundi artists commences today. We begin our roster with an exhibition of new painting works by Lucy Vader, who only recently exhibited at Michael Reid Sydney with sell out results. This brand new suite of paintings follows eight months of rural travel for Vader, an experience which has heavily inspired this exhibition.
Lucy Vader spends a large portion of her year travelling regional Australia in pursuit of artistic inspiration. Excursions to Springfield in Young NSW, Millers Creek of the Merriwa Ranges, and mini residencies on the sheep farms of friends all supply Vader with creative fuel for her paintings. Vader’s travels and continual pursuit of the perfect landscape sees her work remain unmatched in its authenticity.
What we see in Lucy Vader is an artist who has successfully combined her exquisite painting skills with clear visual articulation. She has spent considerable time refining her visual language into one that manages to avoid any resemblance of streamlined landscape painting.
