April 30 – May 9
We are thrilled to share Brooke Dalton’s solo exhibition This Colourful World opens tomorrow at Michael Reid Murrurundi. This new series playfully bounces between interiors and exteriors of the home. Brooke’s atmospheric paintings rightfully strike a chord with many of us, and it is her ability to reinvent, refine and so honestly interpret her surroundings that keeps her paintings at front of mind of collectors nationwide.
This year, Brooke exhibited in the landmark collaborative exhibition between Country Style magazine and Michael Reid Murrurundi. Brooke’s works were met with incredible demand and achieved sold out status only days into the exhibition. Preceding this success, in 2020 Brooke was invited for her first museum exhibition at the New England Regional Art Museum. NERAM is a leading regional art gallery and museum that is home to one of the nation’s most significant public collections outside of major capital cities, housing a collection of over 5000 original artworks.
Brooke says of her interior and still life paintings, “they are an attempt to document the creativity of the design world and allow me to fulfil my own design frustrations through the medium of painting. Spurred by a floral arrangement, a chair, or a general feeling, I will construct a room setting or still life with collections of objects, furniture, vases, foliage and books, both personal, borrowed and media inspired.”
