Louise Frith returns to Murrurundi following a winter residency in Blackheath NSW. The Sydney based painter’s new series Inflorescence responds to the diverse Australian native flowers found in and around Blackheath.
Inflorescence opens at Michael Reid Murrurundi on Thursday August 18 and will exhibit until September 4.
Driven by the dynamism of interpretation, Mike paints with a strong commitment to the loaded brush. Colour, line and form work together in paintings, compelled by a sense of their own energy; both in the changeable landscape which they represent, and in the expressive nature of Mike’s practice.
“I want to move beyond a formal view and evoke a sense of emotion, a distinct moment in time, the drama and cyclical rhythms of the light, elements and time of day and to make shape and colour paramount in my work. To give you a sense of the emotion, as well as the topography of the land.”
We are pleased to announce that on the 13th – 19th October we will hold the inaugural New Crop exhibition at Michael Reid Murrurundi.
New Crop is a group exhibition that celebrates and promotes young creatives living in rural areas. In October 2022, we will showcase the artworks of six young talented artists from all around regional Australia.
Make sure you pencil in Saturday October 15th for a drinks and live auction event at the gallery, it is sure to be a great afternoon in the lovely upper hunter valley! More details for the event can be found here.
