Julian Brown: The Patterns to be found in Pearl Shells
From the spirit of the ocean and the lustre of pearl shells – pearl diver for Paspaley and marine scientist Julian Brown – brings the light, energy, movement and colour to his paintings of oyster beds:
‘When diving for pearls, the anchor lines are all rust, and the cultivated pearl shells reflect light back across the rust up through the daylight, playing in the waters above. The unexpected patterns and shapes set free by nature tell so many stories, they just grow daily. I had to share them. Their beautiful colours have stayed with me to this day”.
Julian Brown is a 28 year old emerging painter from the Northern Territory.
