Steve Tyerman’s work is renowned for its bright, lush and energetic illustration of tropical Australian landscapes. Through a generous use of oil paint which Steve applies in the impasto technique, his paintings wonderfully capture the sensory delights of north-east coastal flora and fauna.
“While my paintings are predominantly landscapes and seascapes, my main interest in paint is to get closer to the way I actually see and experience the world around me. My art is an attempt to create a total synthesis of my visual sensations and lived experiences, the paintings are emotional responses to my familiar surroundings, tempered and informed by my keen interest in gardening, wildlife, literature and the natural world.”
