Followers of Michael Reid CLAY may recognise the work of Fliss Dodd from her April exhibition Ode to the Ox. Showing for the first time at Murra we welcome Dodd and her latest body of work Change of season.

Change of season is inspired by the artist’s self reflective and contemplative experiences during lockdown. This internal world was felt in the external world, during moments where the artist had time to walk and be surrounded by nature. Dodd noticed the forever changing state of nature and how this constant flux imbued in her a sense of calmness. These changes are subtle and can only be observed with a conscious effort. It’s these changes that have influenced Change of season.

Change of season is also an optimistic exhibition. Stepping out from our confinement coupled with the change of season we transition out the other side. Together we look towards what we have ahead of us and can create our own individual story.

Fliss Dodd is a sculptor/photographer living outside of Berry NSW. She studied Ceramics at the ANU School of Art back in 1994 where she fell in love with hand building whilst being taught by ceramicist Hiroe Swen. Fliss draws upon her life experiences, travel, culture, humour and everything in between as reference points and inspiration for her work. She has also worked closely with textiles, design and photography. Her continual fascination for other cultures and travel has enabled her to develop her own unique and distinctive sense of style from which she now draws upon in her latest sculptural abstract pieces
